Sir Arryn Graham had come to seek revenge against Kinsey Darrow for his bloody deeds against the Highland rebels. And he'd do it by claiming Darrow's bride, Kyra, for his own. But in the tangle of her lustrous hair and the emerald of her eyes, Arryn found a lady who was much more than a pawn.
Conquered by this bold knight, Kyra embraced his savage passion, knowing it marked her as the king's enemy. Now she is running for her life, an outcast who may be hanged unless Arryn can save her with his courage...and redeem his own soul with love.

Rebecca - Rebecca (Tuesday, 24 August 2010) Rating: Book Title: Conquer the Night Related Titles: The Lily and the Sword State/Country: Qld I was spellbound by Shannon Drake’s novel “Conquer the Night”. For three days I couldn’t put it down, on the edge of my seat at every twist and turn that were decidedly unpredictable.
Sir Arryn, is a man bent on revenge, revenge for the brutality against his people as historians know was felt by the Scottish in the 1200’s. When Longshanks treats the Scottish as animals and condones the vilest of treatment in his name.
Lady Kyra, as with many women of wealth, title and property is a pawn in men’s games. As a subject to a king, a bride and a women, Kyra is innocent yet used and abused by the very men who ought to care for her, love her and.......protect her. Lady Kyra is powerless in all but her pride in a tug of war between England and Scotland during years of tyranny.
The story is woven in a web of historical fact, where the characters are ensnared in political intrigue. In a country fighting for freedom and martyrs are made from common people. If you love watching epics like “Brave heart”, “Rob Roy” and enjoy the drama of “The Tudors” then you will crave this novel.
Shannon Drake has given Scotland’s’ harrowing history a voice in the characters of this novel where freedom is not a statement but choice to be lived. A master storyteller, who sets a scene with eloquence and flavour. Even the love scenes burn with flame and intensity that leave you in no doubt of the sensuality that the characters experience.
I recommend you visit the days of William Wallace and Conquer the Night.
